Eligibility: One year after full time employment date.
After you have worked for the County for 1 year we begin taking KPERS retirement
from your paycheck. Four percent is taken from your gross pay and Jefferson County
pays in 5.93 % for you. After ten years, you are "vested". That means you can leave
your money in KPERS if you should leave the employment of the County and then draw
it out at retirement. If you leave the County before ten years, you have the options
of withdrawing the taxable money or rolling it into another retirement account.
KPERS also offers optional life insurance. For more information, contact the
County Clerk's office.
